From suitable desks to art that elevates your mood. We have curated the essential list for a productive home office.

With a recent poll discovering that two-fifths of us would now give precedence to a home office in our next house search, there’s no debate that priorities have changed since the pandemic began. Hybrid working has now become the norm and there are more of us working from home than ever before. So, it makes sense that our homes are adapting to this change. Many of us are looking to buy a property with an office, or better still, making the space for one.

Whether you have a dedicated room, or a corner in your home that you work from, the right furniture is a necessity. Good quality is a must. We have listed our top furniture items that you need to get the ball rolling and create the perfect office.

An Office Desk

The fundamental furnishing for any study is the home office desk. It is important to choose one that is built with quality in mind, sidestepping the temptation to buy cheap and substandard. At Love Home Living we are firm believers in quality, investment piece furniture. We also stock desks to complement every interior design.

If it is an artistic desk you desire, our Boho boutique desk, is beautifully crafted with high attention to detail.  Alternatively, this stunning Bronte desk is versatile, complementing both modern and classic interiors. For practicality, it has two drawers to help keep your desk, clutter-free.

Desks with storage are a useful addition to an office. Our modern Carbury home office desk has drawers to keep your belongings off your working space, with the added benefit of looking super stylish.

A Suitable Chair

We spend a lot of time at our desks, so it is important to choose an office chair that is both comfortable and supportive. Look for a chair that can be easily adjusted to the height of your home office desk, enabling your feet to sit flat on the floor. If you are planning to use an office chair for more than four hours a day, then opt for a swivel design with wheels, to enable easy mobility. Look out for comfortable materials: leather and velvet are high on the comfortability stakes.

Our Murrey velvet swivel chair ticks all the right boxes with its gas lift seat height adjustment. It also comes in an array of beautiful colours from charcoal to pink, perfect if you looking to inject colour into your office.

From stylish, contemporary chairs to practical chairs with armrests, a good quality chair is essential in any office.

Choose the right Lamp

Good lighting is paramount in an office. Inadequate light can lead to poor vision, headaches and affect your productivity. Invest in a good quality lamp for your home office desk, such as our Denver table lamp. A lamp that can be easily adjusted as exhibited by our stylish  Watson table lamp is also worthwhile for darker evenings.

Invest in a sideboard

Every office needs storage. Try as we might, papers pile up and an organised system is good for productivity and the mind. At the very least, it’s somewhere to hide all the work clutter. A sideboard with plenty of drawers is ideal for an office, or opt for a display unit to keep things orderly.

If you are short on room, wall space is an excellent alternative. Shelving or wire boards are great ways of utilising space, whilst adding a hint of décor to an office.

Add your favourite Artwork

Whether it is an art print that puts a smile on your face or one that takes you to a ‘happy place’, wall artwork is excellent at helping create the right ambience for your office. Choose from an array of pictures and wall art, or even hang your child’s proudest painting. Art is a great addition to a home office.
